Bio

Pavithren is an inclusive design technologist with a background in implementing technologies and co-designing with multi-disciplinary stakeholders.
He was a Technology Consultant at Hitachi in Singapore, designing, maintaining and implementing enterprise systems in the Cloud for organisations for 4 years. Subsequently, he was a Research Associate at the National University of Singapore, Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, where he led the migration of a digital health intervention platform to the university system while complying with their IT security policies. Concurrently he conducted user-conducted research on patient decision aids for Osteoporosis and Urology patients.
He completed his Master of Engineering (research focus on the inclusive design of privacy and security for mobile) in 2021 and his Bachelor of Engineering at the Singapore University of Technology and Design(Human-Computer Interaction) in 2017.
He is passionate about human-centred design and has provided design mentorship at design innovation competitions focussed on inclusive design. He also won the James Dyson Award at the national level in Singapore in 2017 for a design concept of an assistive device for the deaf and hard of hearing (Project PERI).
As a Pre-Doc at Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital Health and Prevention since September 2022, he works with key stakeholders (mainly at the Landeskliniken Salzburg and Institut für Sportmedizin des Landes Salzburg), such as patients, clinicians and health informaticians, to design human-centred and accessible technologies which involve patient-generated health data. His research broadly falls under designing complex socio-technical systems in the context of digital health, particularly for Cardiovascular disease (CVD) treatment and rehabilitation.
