Bio
Building on his background in interaction design, human computation, serious games, web technologies, adaptive systems, machine learning, and visual effects, Jan Smeddinck is a human-computer interaction (HCI) researcher and practitioner with a passion for digital health, and is the current scientific Co-Director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Digital Health and Prevention. He served as Principal Investigator for Program Lines (Data Analysis and Personalization) and 4 (Development of Digital Health Interventions) from August 2021 to May 2026 and has formerly led the Digital Health Cluster at Open Lab and acted as Degree Programme Director for the MSc in Human-Computer Interaction at the School of Computing at Newcastle University.
Selected projects that Jan Smeddinck is currently working on closely at the LBI-DHP include aktivplan MORE Smart PA ValOpti and the iterative development of digital health intervention concepts.
