Prehab2Rehab

Digital bridge between prevention and rehabilitation

The LBI for Digital Health and Prevention leads the FFG-funded flagship project Prehab2Rehab, which systematically links prehabilitation and rehabilitation for the first time. Our mission: To optimally support the treatment pathway for planned surgeries through digital technologies.

Motivation: While surgical procedures are often already highly optimized, challenges are increasing due to an aging population and comorbidities. Growing research evidence across various applications shows that prehabilitation can offer medical and economic benefits, but it is not yet established in routine care.

Our approach: Integration of digital tools (telehealth, apps, sensors) to provide optimal support and seamless transitions between pre- and postoperative care in three exemplary use cases: knee replacement, hepato-biliary surgery, and cardiac surgery.

Expected outcomes: Improved surgical results, reduced complications, shorter hospital stays, and sustainable lifestyle changes.

Consortium: LBI-DHP, Salzburg Research, LOIDL Consulting, Reha-Zentrum Bad Vigaun, LBI Arthritis & Rehabilitation, LBI Rehabilitation Research, PMU, SALK, MedUni Vienna, alphaport, MOTUM, stAPPtronics, REDOX, RedLink.
